Internship: Today Show, NBC in New York City

I am a senior attack, but maybe moving around in 2011, we'll see! I am American Studies major in the College of Arts and Sciences also concentrating in Communication. I am hoping to pursue a career in television production, either in news or entertainment.

This summer I am interning at NBC News for the Today Show and have had an amazing experience. I heard about the internship from a Cornell grad who told me how to apply and luckily I was accepted! The show takes place in studio 1A in Rockefeller Plaza, so I have spent an exciting summer in New York City (living with the other senior, Alex Botte). I have been exposed to all aspects of news production-- from pitching story ideas, logging video and researching stories to going out on shoots, helping with live segments and working the summer concerts. As part of the program NBC News also has a summer speaker series including talks from Matt Lauer, Ann Curry, Brian Williams, Rachel Maddow and NBC News executives. I have been so lucky to have such an all encompassing experience and have learned so much!

Internship: Barclay’s in New York City
I play goalie and will be graduating next year (2012). My major is AEM, with a concentration in finance and accounting.

This summer I entered a 10 week summer analyst program with Barclays Capital Global Markets division. During Cornell’s on-campus recruiting, I applied to nearly every investment bank on the street and was offered a position with Barclays. The position is held in one of their New York City offices and I have had exposure to different sales and trading roles including prime brokerage origination, equities trading, and Barclays' electronic trading platform sales. I hope to enter the investment banking industry post graduation.
