May 6th-8th was a busy weekend on campus between the end of classes, slope day, NCAA men’s lacrosse games, and last but not least the Cornell Field Hockey Association (CFHA) Spring Event. The event brought back Cornell Field Hockey Alumnae from 80s, 90s, and 00s along with their family and friends.
The event kicked off with a casual breakfast at Collegetown Bagels followed by a ropes course activity. Working with Cornell Outdoor Education, alumnae, family and friends got to interact through group and individual activities all within the setting of Barton Hall. High ropes course elements were intertwined into the structure of the building allowing us to have the unique experience of climbing in the rafters of Barton. The pictures from the ropes course are amazing and most agreed that it was equally fun watching as participating in the activity. After the ropes course, alumnae headed over to Marsha Dodson field for a field hockey game. The graduating seniors, alumnae, family and friends all participated in the game as well. The game was full of laughs and great plays and gave everyone the opportunity to participate.
In the evening, alumnae met the current team and coaching staff in the Kaplan Family Room for a mentoring dinner. This dinner offered alumnae the opportunity to interact with the current team members and learn about their interests, both athletically and academically. The dinner included a presentation on a database of professional information on Cornell field hockey alumnae such as jobs, companies, locations, and majors at Cornell. To wrap up a busy day, alumnae headed to the Statler, Dunbars, and the Palms in unwind with drinks and conversation.
The final event of the weekend was a Sunday morning wrap-up brunch with alumnae and current team members. Alumnae were able to pick up where the mentoring dinner left off, meeting and getting to know all of the current team members before heading back home. Everyone left campus with new memories and new relationships.
